REFLECTOR REVIEW

The Reflector Review is a program that serves as a platform for individual awareness cum social sensitization. Recognizing the potency of awareness and personal consciousness, we believe that taking a panoramic review of recent happenstances in the micro- and macro-society has a role to play in impacting the future of the society and, consequently, on the citizenry.

Also, the Review is aimed at amplifying the voice of the common man to the rest of the community. On this basis, the maiden edition – which held on 26th of April, 2014 in Awolowo Hall Café – employed digital media platforms to express the thoughts of the average OAU students to the outside community especially through the hash tag “#ReflectorReview”.

FUTURE IMPACT CONFERENCE (FIC)

The Future Impact Conference – a very germane part of the Reflector vision – is a platform of connection between the experiences of the older generation and the expectation of the younger generation. As the name implies, it’s aimed at bridging the gap between historical trends and futuristic tendencies, hence, giving the youth intellectual ingredients needed to build and secure a desired future.

The maiden edition of The Reflector’s Future Impact Conference was launched on the 25th of October, 2014. The event hosted great guests like PROF. REMI RAJI (President, Association of Nigerian Authors), ENGR. ABIODUN FIJABI (President, Life Africa Foundation), PROF. GBEMISOLA ADEOTI (Pan-African Writer and author, “Naked Soles”) and BARR. SOLA ADEGBITE. Hundreds of students (including delegates from four secondary schools) converged in Obafemi Awolowo University to engage the topic: “AWAKENING THE FUTURE: A Focus on Media, Education and Youth Development”.

The theme for the 2015 edition of the FUTURE IMPACT CONFERENCE which held on Saturday, 5th of September, 2015  was “RESHAPING NIGERIA: What Can We The Youths Do?“. The event hosted Professor REMI SONAIYA [KOWA Party 2015 Presidential Candidate], ISIME ESENE [Red Media Africa], Professor REMI RAJI and a host of others at Obafemi Awolowo University’s prestigious Awovarsity Hall.

ICE CONFERENCE

Every human brain is composed of millions of cells. What distinguishes some from others is their height of creative ingenuity. ICE – Imagination, Creativity, Expression – is a platform for those whose minds and thoughts have added value to the modern world, either in the form of arts, sciences, technological innovations, etc.

It also serves as a medium of expression for creative young ones and for a global amplification of their intellectual properties.

PROJECT “IEQ”

IEQ is an acronym for “Intelligence and Emotional Quotient”.

This project is aimed at improving the brainpower and emotional intelligence of young minds. It’s a timely project that will be in conjunction with any organization, departmental and faculty organization, etc., which wishes to organize Essay, Debate, Quiz and other mind-developing competitions.

The Reflector team wishes to use this platform to create a radical sensitization and awareness to IQ development, hence, promoting and revitalizing a long-lost quest for wide-range knowledge and mental capacity building.

REFLECTOR BOOK FEST

On the average, there are over 110,000 books published annually in the United States of America alone, which makes the global statistics to be unimaginable. Contrarily, the reading culture of young people – particularly in Africa – is on a desperate decline. To salvage this status quo, there’s an urgent need to awaken and enhance the reading consciousness and interest of young people in literary engagements.  fictionThe Reflector Book Fest is an integral part of the Reflector Team’s vision that focuses on enhancing the reading culture of young people by making literary works more accessible, equipping potential authors, and fostering a worthy relationship between writers and their readers.

Details about the date, venue, activities and invited guests at maiden edition of event are contained here.
